Unique opportunity for seasoned engineer experienced in instrumentation and control software systems, analog/digital. Become an integral part of creating a pleasant riding experience for our customers on SEPTA’s system.

SEPTA’s New Vehicle unit is involved with a number of exciting new projects including new commuter rail cars called Silverliner V. The Manager Engineering, New Vehicles will be involved in the design, manufacture and engineering support of vehicles and vehicle instrumentation and control (I&C) systems. The Manager shall be responsible for defining and coordinating in-house and third party tasks of high complexity associated with new vehicle programs.

Your skills and knowledge should be of a senior level in the following job responsibility areas:

ANALOG AND DIGITAL SYSTEMS CONFIGURATION CONTROL AND MANAGEMENT.
Establish and maintain analog and digital systems configuration control plans for SEPTA’s systems. Review of supplier’s analog and digital quality assurance plans.
VEHICLE COMMUNICATION SYSTEMS
Provide technical expertise/supervision related to procuring, maintaining, programming and modifying the vehicle communication system used for voice, video and data transmission.
VEHICULAR CONTROL SYSTEMS
Provide technical expertise/supervision related to procuring, maintaining, programming and modifying the control systems utilized in vehicle subsystems such as propulsion, brake, train control, door and HVAC.
VEHICULAR DATA MANAGEMENT SYSTEMS
Provide technical expertise/supervision to assure vehicular fault data reporting is meaningful to the vehicle operators and useful to maintenance personnel.
WIRELESS NETWORKS
Provide support in the collection and dissemination of vehicle maintenance information via wireless networks located at various maintenance facilities.
ADVANCED VEHICULAR DESIGN
Plan, organize and implement designs, specifications and standards for new vehicles and new vehicular systems.

Please possess the following qualifications:

*Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering or related technical (Computer Science/Electronics) field plus eight (8) years responsible/related engineer experience in the overall design of vehicles and/or instrumentation and control systems which include progressively responsible work performance and some direct/indirect supervisory experience.
*Registered professional Engineer (P.E.) preferred
*Familiarity with industry design standards and requirements req’d.
*Extensive experience in computer applications within field of study req’d.
*Polished written, oral and interpersonal skills req’d.
