POSITION TITLE:
Vehicle Power Management Engineer
POSITION DESCRIPTION:
·Lead development of intelligent power distribution and management hardware systems design and requirements.
·Design and develop new state of the art power management hardware.
·Design, develop, build, and test electronic brassboard hardware.
·Model and simulate high power switching and electromechanical devices.
·Write test requirements, procedures, reports, and perform tests in the laboratory and in vehicles as required.
·Gather technical information, analyze technical problems, develop technical solutions, and implement technical solutions.
·Conduct and participate in peer reviews of schematics and other drawings, specifications, I/O matrices, etc, as required.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
·Bachelors Degree in Electrical or Electronic Engineering is required.
·Must have the ability to understand customer requirements and the ability to further incorporate them into hardware concepts.
·Experience in military and/or auto power generation, distribution, and management at the system, subsystem, and hardware requirements development level is required.
·Experience in Analog and Digital Circuit Design of high power (28, 270, 610 Vdc) switching components/electronics, DC/DC converters, inverters, and motor controllers is highly desired.
·Experience in power generation, distribution, and management of Hybrid Electric Drive vehicles, including an understanding of associated energy storage (battery) systems is a plus.
·Ability to use Engineering Development and Test Tools.
·Experience with military electronics/hardware is preferred.
·Able to handle task conflict and ambiguity and work with minimum supervision.
·Occasional work in shop, laboratory and manufacturing areas.
·Need to be able to get into and out of military ground vehicles (must pass ASR), and be able to carry test equipment weighing up to 30 lbs.
·Ability to travel via commercial air and ground transportation with occasional out-of-town travel to suppliers/vendors and remote sites.
·Able to work a normal work week during normal working hours and overtime upon request to meet critical tasks and/or deadlines.
·Ability to obtain a security clearance.
·Qualified in MS Word and Excel.
·Must have proficient verbal and written communications skills in English with the ability to implement and deliver technical presentations.
·Must have good interpersonal skills.
·Familiarity with many of the following desired: power distribution and management, power switching devices, power control devices, motor control devices, high power electronics, fire power control, M1A2 IFCEU/FCEU, cPCI bus, VME bus, serial data busses, high frequency data busses, processors, single board computers, digital I/O cards, analog I/O cards, and embedded systems.
